Adeta Primary School – Wall & Flooring Project, November 2017

The next phase of our renovation project of Adeta primary school is the wall plastering & flooring.

This is our second project and we have learnt a lot about how to make our money just go that wee bit further… It called for finding loyal and hardworking people dedicated to our cause… This project has sourced labour directly, and is being closely supervised by one of the foundation’s volunteers. The speed at which the workers stripped the walls to the bare blocks, and the re-plastering of the walls with great precisions, tells me we hit the bullseye to perfection… they all gave 100% and on that note it’s a big thank you to everyone.

Adeta Primary School – Roof & Ceiling Project, October 2017

In March we made a promise to the children that we would try to improve their classrooms… it is one thing to hope to do something in the privacy of your mind, but a real challenge when you declare publicly to the children that we would make their class good. I vividly remembered the bewildered looks on their faces (some probably thinking …keep dreaming)… This weighed heavily on my mind, as back then it seemed a daunting task to do… I found myself asking questions with no apparent answers. How much will it cost? Would we be able to raise enough funds? Where do we start from and how do we really go about it? How long will it take? …

I’m glad to say we now have answers to all those questions… we realised we had to tell THE STORY … So glad many listened, many inspired us, many supported us and many encouraged us…

Fast forward to October, only a few months after our daring promise… we had raised enough to start the project in earnest… the roof and ceilings have bee refurbished.

Adeta Primary School – Borehole Water Project, June 2017

This school and the surrounding community had no source of drinking water… Very few came to school with water bottles, and even those who had water bottles were unable to refill their bottles when they ran out of water. Many came into school without a drop of water… Not so bad during the raining season, but with temperature soaring to over 35ºC in the summer… they not only need water for drinking but for cooling down too…

When we visited the school back in March 2017, this became our top priority…

In June 2017 we commissioned a borehole, to serve not only the school but the surrounding community.

Our second project

At Adeta Primary School, we will again be making repairs to the structure of the building and to the plumbing, replacing furniture, providing educational supplies and decorating, but on a larger scale. We will be revamping all 6 classrooms.

The estimated budget is £8,000 (N4,000,000).
